Just a few days ago, SpaceX carried out one of the most significant missions in the history of Elon Musk’s company, writes CNBC.
SpaceX confirmed today that the Space-2 space mission, in which two NASA astronauts took the Space X Crew Dragon capsule to the International Space Station.
This week, Space X planned to launch another 60 Starlink satellites. But due to the impending tropical storm, the company decided to postpone the task and instead focus on Demo-2.
As the name suggests, Demo-2 will be the second time SpaceX has launched the Crew Dragon capsule. But last year Demo-1 had no people on board.
NASA astronauts Bob Benken and Doug Hurley took off at 4:32 a.m. local time from Kennedy Space Center 39A in Florida.
Demo-2 is a priority for both NASA and SpaceX. The agency describes the mission as “substantial” even in times of pandemic.
